Rob Lippincott Appointed PBS Senior Vice President, Education
ARLINGTON, VA - March 5, 2007 -- PBS Chief Content Officer John Boland has named Rob Lippincott as PBS' new Senior Vice President, Education. Mr. Lippincott, who most recently served as Discovery Education's Senior Vice President, Content & Product Development, will begin his tenure on March 12. He will report directly to Mr. Boland. Mr. Lippincott began his public broadcasting career in the 1980s at PBS member station WGBH in Boston.

In his new position, Mr. Lippincott will be responsible for the development and implementation of effective public media educational services for PBS, local public television stations, students, teachers and parents. His tasks will include strategic and operational planning, securing new financial resources and leveraging new technologies to expand PBS' education services. He joins a newly integrated digital content organization, assembled by Mr. Boland since he arrived at PBS as its first chief content officer six months ago, including television programming, new media, education, brand management, promotion, communications and content management functions.
Prior to joining Discovery in 2005, Mr. Lippincott led his own consulting business and worked with a number of organizations, including school systems, colleges of education, for-profit educational enterprises, and non-profit community groups to design curricula, business and distribution strategies, as well as premium digital offerings for children, parents, and educators. Mr. Lippincott has served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Family Education Network for K-12 and worked with a number of new media enterprises, among them Ziff-Davis Interactive, Lotus, and AT&T. Early in his career, Mr. Lippincott spent six years as the Director of Interactive Technologies for WGBH Boston. His classroom experience includes teaching middle school and fifth grade, as well as serving on the faculty of Harvard University Graduate School of Education, his alma mater. He was also assistant headmaster at the Stowe School in Stowe, Vermont.
In addition to his master's degree from Harvard University in Interactive Technology in Education, Mr. Lippincott also holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College.
