Programming Services
Here are just a few of the many services PBS provides to its member stations.
National Programming Service (NPS)
The National Programming Service (NPS) provides the highest-quality documentaries, arts, children's and news and public affairs programming. In primetime, PBS presents signature series like Frontline, American Experience, NOVA, Nature and American Masters, as well as a wide range of high-profile miniseries and specials. The NPS distributes the PBS Ready To Learn Service, which provides hours of award-winning children's programming every day.
Fundraising Programming & Syndicated Services
Fundraising programming is designed to support and enhance stations' fundraising efforts through the production and acquisition of special programming.
PBS Plus
This service is intended to complement the National Program Service, which provides the national program schedule to PBS member stations. PBS PLUS consists entirely of fully underwritten continuing series, limited series, and specials in a variety of genres.
PBS Channels
PBS also offers two fulltime channels:
the
PBS National Satellite Service for C-Band, which is broadcast to the backyard (TVRO) audience; and the PBS National Satellite Service for DBS, which is broadcast on DirecTV and DISH Network. All satellite services are made possible by viewer support of local PBS stations.
