Video - represents videocassette and program-related product sales (laser discs, teacher and student guides, indexed multimedia products, books and software) to schools, colleges, universities, libraries, businesses, government agencies and consumers.

Adult Learning Service - represents license and enrollment fees from participating colleges and universities. Adult Learning Service offerings consist of college telecourses, live interactive videoconferences and resource programs, ranging in topics from literacy to introductory language courses to management training.

Other Member and Educational Services - represents other services provided on behalf of members, including PBS Interactive, development, fundraising support and copyright administration.

Satellite Replacement - represents project planning expenses, lease and acquisition of satellite replacement capacity, ground equipment for member stations and other technical equipment.

Data Delivery - represents expenses incurred by PBS ENTERPRISES, INC., for data delivery services utilizing a portion of public television's broadcast signal.

Management and General - consists of management and general administrative costs, including finance, legal, human resources and information technology associated with the operations of PBS.

(4) Prepaid Satellite Lease
In October 1997, PBS began service with GE Americom Communications, Inc. (GE Americom) for transponder capacity on its GE-3 and GE-1 satellites through September 2006. The long-term portion of the prepaid lease payments is accounted for as prepaid satellite lease in the accompanying consolidated statements of financial position and is amortized on a straight-line basis over the life of the lease.

For the third time, Arthur won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Children's Animated Program. Between The Lions, Reading Rainbow and Sesame Street each won 3 Emmys.
