Senior Vice President, Station Services, PBS

Joyce Herring is Senior Vice President of PBS Station Services responsible for representing the perspective of PBS Member Stations in the ongoing management and strategic direction of PBS. She works closely with PBS’s President, COO and other members of the management team to ensure that PBS works in partnership with its member stations to increase the stations’ value and connection to their communities and maximize the value of, and benefits from, PBS’s programs, products and services. Herring also manages the Development, Station Services and Conference Services departments and acts as liaison with the PBS Board’s Station Services Committee on the station policies and procedures that govern the relationship between PBS and its member stations.
Prior to joining PBS, Herring was the General Manager of KACV, Amarillo, a position she held since 1988. Herring oversaw the station’s legal proceeding with the Federal Communications Commission over their analog license and worked extensively to establish their financial campaign and operational design. She also developed and implemented strategies for their digital conversion and capital campaign.
Herring was also a teacher at the collegiate level, serving as Department Chair at Amarillo College, as well as instructor at the University of Texas, Austin, from which she received both her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Master of Arts. She has done additional graduate work at Texas Tech University and West Texas State University.
