From the Journey to Planet Earth
PBS's programming is used extensively in K-12 classrooms around the country – more than any other media content. NOVA and Scientific American Frontiers are just two examples of our outstanding science programming. Shows like Nature and Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Adventures bring the wonders of our planet and natural world into focus in ways never before seen.
In January 2007, PBS stepped into new territory by showing three different pilots for a new science series. Viewers were invited to check out these three pilot episodes on-air, online at PBS.org, or as free, downloadable Podcasts from iTunes. They were then encouraged to weigh in on their favorite program at PBS org. PBS Programming Services will take the viewer feedback and other research into account when choosing which show will become a permanent series, beginning in Fall 2007.
