This is a special quilt. It is being made by quilters from around the
world to honor the memories and comfort the mourners of the victims of
the Columbine High School shooting.
I think this project shows a very important aspect of quilting
how quilters come together to support and comfort others. There are many
in the public eye who are using this tragedy to make political points,
or to advance their own personal agenda. What I love about this project
and our group of quilters is that we have not been spending time finding
someone to blame about the state of society we are focusing instead
on being a force of good on making a positive step toward honoring
the lives that were lost. We can't make evil disappear, but we can make
the presence of good more widely felt.
