"I came to photography a little bit late. I went to art school but did not study photography. I moved to New York and saw the way photography was being used. And I don’t mean photojournalism, I mean the way artists were using photography. I thought, ‘That’s it, that’s for me.’ The whole notion of frozen time was completely new- and that’s what I was doing."
