The art of Tucson painter, Alfred Quiroz, depicts an absurd world of destruction which he satirizes in larger-than-life paintings. After joining the Navy and spending time in Vietnam, Quiroz returned to the United States where he attended school at the San Francisco Art Institute and the Rhode Island School of Design. Later, he returned home to Tucson where he received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona.
Quiroz says his art is influenced by memories of Vietnam. His 'Medal of Honor Series' portrays colorful, cartoon-like characters engaged in combat.
Quiroz recently joined the faculty of the School of Art at the University of Arizona.
