Tom Verducci talks about the bad blood between owners and players.
"There were just so many years of distrust that built up between owners and players. And this was really the culmination of it. Both sides dug their feet in. Not so much on principle but to beat the other side. It was a game each side felt like they had to win because they didn't want to lose to what really was an adversary. There was no partnership in those days between the owners and the players. The owners wanted to try to go for a salary cap. They were jealous of what had happened in football and, and in basketball. Wanted a similar system. They knew they weren't gonna get it. But they wanted to fight the fight and win the war."
