Howard Bryant discusses baseball players as 'role models'
"I've always said that maybe it was time to put an end to the myth. Maybe it was time to just say, okay, listen. We're not gonna look at you to be the role models.And maybe it's just another venue. Maybe it's just another form of entertainment no different than the movies, no different than going to a concert. But if that's the case, then I also would say that baseball especially then let's get rid of the United Way commercials. You can't have that role model position and then get upset when people wonder if you're using drugs. It doesn't work. You can't have it both ways. And for so long everyone has wanted to have it both ways and this issue has, let's say that the rubber has met the road."
