In addition to Michael Lerner's Choices in Healing, there is Manifesto for a New Medicine: Your Guide to Healing Partnerships and the Wise Use of Alternative Therapies (Perseus Press, 1996) by Dr. James S. Gordon. Dr. Gordon has been a leading advisor to the NIH's Office of Alternative Medicine and in his book he discusses how to combine the best of orthodox and alternative medicine.
