Susan
Bredhoff Cohen is an independent producer with a long list of accomplishments
in documentary and dramatic production. Her news credits include work
at ABC News 20/20, and a series of hard-hitting nationally syndicated
documentaries on topics such as mental health, nursing homes, and gun
control.
Susan has also produced
compelling original dramas and docudramas featuring stars such as Tyne Daly and
Christopher Reeve, for Hearst Broadcasting. Susan won Emmys in the category of
childrens programming for two ABC Television Afterschool Specials.
Under the joint
auspices of ABC and PBS, Susan also produced In the Shadow of Love, a poignant
docudrama on teens and AIDS. The program went on to win numerous awards, including the
Gabriel Award, and continues to be shown in schools throughout the country. Susan won her
third Emmy in this cateogory as co-producer of a pilot for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting that set out to teach
children resiliency skills. It was called Willoughbys Wonders and starred Joe
Morton.
On
Susans first childrens program, which dealt with prejudice,
Lenny Zakim served as an advisor. Since that time, Susan and Lenny have
kept up a personal and professional relationship. Their friendship has
come full-circle with Susans first program for Body
& Soul, "Lennys Story", about Lennys
search for spiritual, emotional and physical therapies to complement
his traditional medical treatment for a life-threatening illness.
