About BreakThrough OnlineIn conjunction with the public television series, BreakThrough: The Changing Face of Science in America, this Web site is part of a national education and outreach initiative created to connect students, teachers, and parents to existing science education services and resources. BreakThrough Online is also designed to increase the quantity and quality of "real-life" exposure that students have to science by providing avenues to discover science at home and in their community.
In the Activity Center, access to a searchable database of over 1500 national and local science enrichment programs and classes is available, as well as information on local science museum exhibits, conversations with scientists online, and links to "cool" scientific Web sites.The Resource Center provides information on the television series, a directory of partner organizations active in science education, scholarship and academic online resources, and direct access to educational materials that teachers, parents, and the public can use to support science education.
Utilities allows direct access to the online database for frequent users, options for membership, broadcasts scheduling information, and feedback.
