Thomas Ott

Writer, Producer, Director

Besides having taught film design, film and video production and film history at Boston University, Thomas Ott has worked as a producer, editor, and cinematographer on a variety of documentary projects, including two award-winning episodes of Eyes on the Prize II. Ott recently edited Hard Lessons at Chelsea High, which chronicled a year of reform at an inner-city high school, and which earned a Gold Plaque at the Chicago International Film Festival, the Ohio State Award, and the Livingston Award for National Reporting. Previously, Ott won a regional Emmy for Emergency Unit, a portrait of patients and staff in a medical emergency ward; produced, directed, and edited CINE Golden Eagle winner and Emmy nominee Little People, about dwarfism; and served as cinematographer on Song of the Adventurers, and anthropological study of the songs and recitations of migrant mine workers in Lesotho, Africa.
