Yolanda Parks

Writer, Producer, Director

Yolanda Parks has over 15 years of television production and programming experience. Prior to joining Blackside, Parks spent ten years as a Producer/Writer with N.A.K. Production Associates of Washington, DC. While with N.A.K., she produced over 30 educational and social documentaries, discussion shows, and children and entertainment programs. Parks co-developed and produced the Emmy award-winning children's PBS special, Journey Beyond the Dream: A Celebration of Black History, and the Emmy-nominated documentary, College: What of the Dream? Parks began her career as a Program Associate with PBS in Washington, DC. She also spent two years at Washington, DC PBS affiliate, WETA-TV where she was production assistant on the children's science series Spaces, and as a programming assistant for local programming. In addition to a National Capital Region Emmy award, Parks has received a New York Festival Gold Medal; a Chicago Film Festival/Intercom Awards Silver Plaque; and an Educational Film and Video Festival Silver Apple Award.
