#422 Southern Tuscany-Montalcino-Style
Location: Montalcino, Tuscany
The great wine of Montalcino, and one of the great wines of the world, is Brunello di Montalcino. Few can match it for power, opulence, and ageability. Among the finest producers of Brunello is Castello Banfi, an American owned estate impressive in both size and quality. Come inside Castello Banfi and learn what makes it so special, then visit Montalcino itself from the markets to a couple of awesome, authentic restaurants.

#423 Sonoma Standouts
Location: Sonoma County, California
There’s no doubt Sonoma County is home to some of the finest wineries in California. St. Francis is one of those wineries. From small and humble beginnings, St. Francis has built a Sonoma empire. Known as the “house of big reds,” St. Francis produces one of the country’s finest Merlots along with outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon and breathtaking Zinfandel. Throw in some pretty darned good Chardonnay, and you’ve got one impressive lineup. Speaking of impressive, how about the organic lineup of herbs, vegetables, and fruit at the Oak Hill Farm, or the soothing springs and outstanding cuisine of the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa? All in all, it’s a show not to be missed.
