This gathering provided exclusive access to PBS programs, hosts and producers. After two thrilling days, supporters from the OETA Foundation, Rocky Mountain PBS, Wisconsin Public Television, and WTIU left Chicago with a deeper appreciation for their role as local community partners. The Development Advisory Committee (DAC) is looking to add three new members to serve from 2019-2021, including leaders with a strong background in major/planned giving or corporate support and specifically from small or medium markets. In support of The Great American Read and PBS member stations’ ongoing efforts to prepare young children for success in school and life, PBS KIDS has worked with First Book, a national non-profit dedicated to providing high quality books and educational resources to low income children, to design a PBS KIDS Read book purchase and donation program stations can activate through their local fundraising activities.

The Development Advisory Committee (DAC) gathered at PBS in January to examine critical challenges and opportunities facing fundraisers in public media. The two-day meeting laid the groundwork for new projects to support station’s local fundraising efforts. It also put a spotlight on how together the system can address the membership puzzle public media is experiencing.
