Get It on the Ballot
Worksheet II
1. Looking at the local government sites that you found for Worksheet I, is there a law already written that is related to the issue you'd like to change? Copy it here:
2. Find your state board of elections, secretary of state, elections division of another state office, or the government office that manages elections. What initiatives or referenda have been brought to ballot in the past?
3. What other initiatives or referenda are being considered now?
4. Using the resources section, find as much information as you can about how to get your issue before your state legislature or on the ballot. Do you have to pay a fee? How many signatures must you gather? To whom must the petitions be presented? What will happen when the signed petitions are presented to the legislature?
