  1. Sound Quality
    _____Talents' voices can be heard clearly throughout the commercial
    _____All shots have minimal natural sound in background (no distracting horns, traffic, etc.)
    _____Sound levels of all scenes are at the same level
    _____Music is added appropriately to set and/or change the mood of the scene

  2. Lighting
    _____Talents' faces are well-lit, scenes are illuminated enough to see the action
    _____Harsh daylight shadows are minimized in shade
    _____All scenes have clear contrast in colors or blacks/whites
    _____The scenes have been white-balanced and well lit

  3. Cinematography
    _____All shots are steady; pans and zooms have clear starts and finishes (tripod use is evident)
    _____A variety of shots is included: establishing, medium shots, close-ups, high/low angle
    _____Shots have clear focus; the subjects’ features are sharp and clear
    _____Shots are free of distracting backgrounds such as lights, poles, fences
    _____Shots follow a logical sequence/storyboarding
    _____Pacing of shots is consistent
    _____Talent is framed tightly around shoulders during scenes of emotional impact (close-up)
    _____A variety of scenes at different locations are shot to tell the story
    _____The commercial is free of any serious video error/glitches

  4. Scripting/Story
    _____Two of the advertising appeals have been effectively and creatively used
    _____The scripting is original, soundbites are vividly written (cliché lines are minimal)
    _____The commercial is exactly 30 seconds long
    _____A typewritten script has been submitted in its proper format
