Records of Amen-Re destroyed

Soon after Akhenaten's death, the city of Amarna, which had been built to honour the sun god Amen-Re, was abandoned. Wherever they could be found, the name and image of Amen-Re were destroyed. No reference to the God was too far away or too inaccessible.
