Hello, we just moved into an 80 year home where the heating/cooling vents are on the floor -they are large grates. The problem is that you can see through the grates to the unslightly metal below. It is not attractive at all and since the grates are in every room (and take up so much space), we are looking to figure out something safe that we could do to make these look nicer. Also, the wood floors that we have are seriously squeaking. In some places the floor boards are caving in. Can these floors be saved or is it time for new ones? Thank you so much
