Tom's query about his dog
Tom's query about his dog Caleb is easy to answer, I think. Animals lie on the floor or on the ground and sense the earth's vibrations from our footsteps or, in Tom's case, his truck's movement. Their senses are much more acute than ours. Years ago, my two cats would know when I exited the elevator and walked (on carpeting) to the door of my condo. My mother, who was living with me at the time, told me they would perk up and run to the door, anxiously awaiting my entry, minutes before I came in the door. I am certain they could feel the vibrations in the floor and recognized my step. The dog and the cat that I have now, in another house, do the same thing.
