A new book on Islam, clarifying Asra Nomani's views of her religion was just released in February 2009. The author is Saleem Ahmed, Ph.D. The title is, ISLAM: A RELIGION of PEACE? Key points include: 1) the "mixed signals" in the Qur'an; and 2) challenges Muslims face in interpreting the messages in the Qur'an because the writings are NOT arranged chronologically, thus context of revelation of many verses remains unclear (i.e. prohibition against trusting Jews and Christians - revealed around 622 CE, and permission to eat with and intermarry them - 632 CE, occur 46 verses apart in the same "surah" - chapter, and in REVERSE chronological order. The implications of unclear context of revelations leads to two "faces of Muslims" with "peace writings" contrasted with "war writings."
