Dignified Surveillance
I am inclined to agree with Richard. The current foxes guarding the hen house have been notorious for pulling last minute raids on what is left of administrative integrity. Further economic erosion (deliberately harming the bulk of the American populace) is certain during the lame-duck period, nobody doubts that. The financial meltdown appears to be Bush and company's middle-finger insult to us ALL as they face comfortable retirements. But many people I know are nervous about a secondary "9/11" scenario involving the physical murders of many innocent people. This is not feared as coming from the "outside" but from within the Cheney/Bush cabal. Most folks are not alarmists or conspiracy theorists. This undercurrent of fear is manifested by looking at the past 8 years with realistic, analytical views. I hope that some in the Whitehouse and Cabinet still have the power to restrain an all out, spoil-sport tantrum from erupting. Perhaps we should all keep our eyes wide open for the next few months. And TURN OFF FOX NEWS. The paid mouthpieces there have only bred panic and distrust in order to push the Cheney/Bush agenda down our throats. We need some truth now, not more bellicose propaganda.
