Are You Ready for the June 12 Digital Transition?
After months of uncertainty, date changes and government rulings, the final deadline for the transition to digital television has arrived. On June 12th, all television stations will be required to move to all-digital broadcasts.
Perhaps your PBS station has already made the switch; many, though, have waited until the final deadline to better prepare those in their communities. Are you ready for the digital transition?
Just in case you're still unsure about what all this transition talk means, or are feeling confused about how to prepare, here are some resources that may answer your questions:
- PBS Digital TV Frequently Asked Questions
- Information about converter boxes and antennas
- PBS Chief Technology Officer John McCoskey’s answers to your questions about the switch
- A step by step how-to for installing a converter box
- A digital map detailing signals in your local area from the FCC
Many PBS stations are also setting up call centers before and on June 12th to answer questions and troubleshoot problems that may occur. You can find your station and its contact information by plugging in your zip code here.
