A Brief History of the Internet - Through the Lens of PBS.org Part 4 - Your Feedback

Since the new PBS homepage launched just over two months ago, we here at  Engage have collected feedback from over 500 of you. Feedback ranges from simple "yes" or "no" responses to our poll, to multi-paragraph design and usability reviews. We've responded personally to all feedback received to date, and have taken your suggestions to heart.

Here's a summary of the poll results when we asked you "Overall, do you like the new look?":

Change is hard -- we know that. While we wish everyone loved the new look right off the bat, most of us don't embrace redesigns right away; we get used to the way a site looks, and we want it to stay that way.

One user wrote:

"I really don't like it. Now it looks like every other news source with the white background and boxes. The older version of homepage was distinctive, gave headlines and show highlights in boxes that were NOT interactive. It was easier to see them quickly that way as a home page. Many people DON'T need more interactive, we have enough to do!!!"

Another stated, simply: " I don't like it".

Others of you shared more positive reactions:

"It looks modern and "Fresh". The colours are pleasant on the eye. It loads fast on a (normally) slow machine, it gives me quite a bit above the "fold" (I'm at 1280x1024) and I like the quick widget for "prime time" shows on the upper right. That's where I "look" for that sort of things, so that's good. When I have looked more through the site I'll probably have more feedback, but that's a quick first impression."

And

"It's much clearer, less cluttered, confusing and easier to find access to programs I want."

Feedback from our web visitors has been a huge help as we continue to work on plans for the next version of the page, and PBS.org as a whole. You will see some additional cosmetic changes to the homepage in the coming weeks that we hope will make it even easier for you to find what you're looking for.

Human mind loves familiarity

Human mind loves familiarity and refuses to accept changes immediately. But once accepted old disappears and the new becomes familiar!

Nice New Look

I enjoy the new, clean, and refreshing look. And it seems as if over half would agree with me as well. It is very funny how people are so opposed to some of the simplest change at times.

No one likes change

My experience has been that no one really likes change. No matter what people may say, I firmly believe that human beings are creatures of habit. I know I certainly am. With that being said, I have to say that I like the changes. It took me a bit to get use to the layout and colors, but, not that I've grown more accustom to it; I like it more and more each day.

People like changes

Its just a misunderstanding that people dislike chnages. Most of them like to see new things. As AnuSilva said, its just a matter of time to get familiarised with the changes.

Finally someone who doesn´t think human beings don´t like changes! A simple proof - all the achievments in science. What would you say now?
