Insights into PBS programming and personalities
A Community of Viewers Like You
“This show was made possible by viewers like you.” You hear these words at the end of every PBS show, and it’s true – your contributions to your local PBS station are essential to our ability to create the programs, web content and educational services for which PBS is known.
But you’re more than viewers. You’re a critical part of the PBS community.
Public broadcasting was founded on the idea of community – a collective television experience showcasing high quality programming by a variety of independent producers. Today, the Internet lets us build and connect with our community in a host of new ways – such as Facebook, Twitter and user generated content on PBS stations and show sites. We can listen and respond to your feedback in real-time, and you can easily connect with each other. We here at PBS are creating additional ways for you to experience PBS community online, from talking about your favorite shows to interacting with PBS personalities and actively influencing programs on our schedule.
Do you consider yourself a part of the PBS community? How do you define community? Do you believe community can exist online? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, or in the comments below.
