"Five Good Answers" from Frank Sesno
Award-winning journalist Frank Sesno is the host and managing editor of Planet Forward, a new series on PBS. Planet Forward is an innovative series about America's energy future.
Sesno took some time to answer your questions about Planet Forward and the news business on "Five Good Questions."
After you watch the video answers let us know what you think in the comments below. You can also submit your thoughts on energy policy to Planet Forward. The top online submissions will be featured as part of the show's national television broadcast in April.
After years as a journalist, what was it that drew you to this topic and working on this particular project about energy?
How do you think programs like this will change the way journalists operate moving forward? Do you, as a journalist, have concerns about letting the audience shape your story?
What is your feeling on this new administration's energy plan as it relates to jobs and the crippled economy?
Recently I asked several people in my office where they thought their home energy came from. I was suprised to find that some of them thought it just came through the power lines and had no clue about the source...People seem to get that the gas in our cars produces CO2, but they don't connect the electricity they use in their home to coal burning. Are there studies that show that people understand the issues about our energy use? Do the majority of people realize how they are connected to the issue?
I have read of farms that are totally run by energy that is generated using animal excrement. Why can't we do the same with that of humans?

I like the way you used the word “privilege” – it certainly seems you got something important...

Great to hear!
I have been following frank for years. And this news shocked me to hear he is working on such an amazing project. I hope to hear more on this story soon.

I'm surprised to know that
I'm surprised to know that some peoples do not know well about their home energy source...Seems we should do further socialization about energy chain to give them better understanding.
I didn't know that energy
I didn't know that energy could come from animal excrement WOW! I guess I can't blame the farmers. Still, it's shocking to know how ignorant people are about where their own energy comes from. I'm analytical so I reaearch every thing haha! Great blog!

Animal excrement is good!
Well, I didn't know that animal excrement could produce anything better than stink, but now I know better... lol.. I just love it when science gives me another juicy informational tidbit like this.. great blog and great post!

Alternatives are great, but
Alternatives are great, but NOT the answer. The answer is to join hands and sing "Kumbaya my Lord, Kumbaya" as we all warp back into third world status, or better yet, the stone age.
Keep drinking the Kool-Aid all, and wearing the Rose colored glasses, you Communists!!
As far as Frank's Award winning status: Not a surprise, even "Jimmy" got a Noble Prise for peace in the Middle East. All that's right, that didn't really happen, but he still gets to keep his award.
