Getting Crafty with PBS
Here on Engage, we get a lot of viewer feedback about quilting and craft shows on PBS, so we thought we'd highlight some of our favorite craft-related features from the PBS archives. The holiday season is the perfect time to make crafts to give as gifts or to decorate your home.
- New to quilting? Educate yourself with the American Quilts quilting glossary. Already an expert? The glossary may offer up some ideas for new patterns or tools.
- Construct a woven basket with this step-by-step guide from Oregon Public Broadcasting - part of a curriculum designed to teach kids about Native American culture in the Northwest.
- Explore Craft in America's online exhibition of over 100 American artists representing the origin and tradition of craft-making in the U.S.
- Need some last minute holiday gifts? Make your own snow globe with step-by-step instructions from Real Simple.
- Make a Thankfulness Tree with Supersister Patience. Not only does this little tree get the whole family cutting and pasting, but the outcome is a tree full of reminders of what we should be thankful for.
Working on any nifty projects at home? Share your favorite craft ideas.

Family Bonding
Although my family are slightly too old to be making things, I feel that as a child it was an essential part of growing up and that type of family bonding is what I miss nowadays
Great Idea
I loved the snow globe idea. I am going to do this project with my child later. We love doing projects where we use our hands, minds, and imagine what we can make. This is perfect for that.
