The Hot Sheet: July 13-20
Whether it’s reaching the top of the acropolis or the heights of royalty, this week PBS highlights things at the top -- or falling from it.
- NOVA climbs one of the world’s most famous hills to show you the Secrets of the Parthenon on July 14th at 8 pm ET (check local listings). Precision engineering unmatched for millennia is now in danger of collapse, and we take you inside the mission to save one of ancient Greece’s greatest triumphs.
- As the world economy continues its downward shift, The Ascent of Money takes an in-depth look into the history of the global financial system. The program’s host, Niall Ferguson, argues that the history of our currency really is the core of human history. The second episode of the four-part film airs July 15th at 9 pm ET (check local listings).
- Marie Antoinette certainly stayed on top on Bastille Day; well, her head was on top of a stick, that is! In honor of Bastille Day on July 14th, explore the story of one of history’s most infamous rulers. Watch online video, test your knowledge with a quiz, and explore the opulent and oppressed culture of France during the French Revolution.
