A New Way to Get Your PBS Video Online
You may have noticed something different about PBS.org today. No, we didn't get a haircut - it's the new PBS Video portal, offering a simple and modern way to watch PBS programs online.
Streaming video on PBS.org is nothing new, but the innovative video portal brings it all together for the first time, and invites you to truly explore all we have to offer. In addition to inviting you to browse by program title and topic, we've curated special collections for your viewing enjoyment; for example, check out today's round-up of Earth Day video, or indulge your wanderlust with the Going Places collection.
Eric Freeland, PBS's Senior Manager of Digital Video, gave me a tour of the site and showed me some of the highlights.

Have you had a chance to play around with the new portal? Take it for a spin, and let me know what you think.

Video Portal
I have looked at the new video portal and it looks exciting. However, every time I make a selection, a voice says that the content is not available. I am using Firefox from Canada so to questions come to mind:
1. Which browsers are supported?
2. Is the content available in Canada?
Content Not Available
Yeah, I'm having the exact same issue as Dean. I've tried it with both Safari and Firefox. I guess the site must use geo/ip location and block content from being streamed to Canadians, which is disappointing.
The Video Portal was very
The Video Portal was very informative, concise and to the point. The narrator was very poised, knew what she was talking about, made me want to go to the next step. Eric showed command of his subject, very good beginning.
Content not available
Some problem as others. Didn't have this problem before. Does anyone at PBS read these?
PBS Video in Canada
Unfortunately, due to rights issues we cannot show alot of programming outside of the US. We had some technical difficulties yesterday, which is why you were able to see videos and now are not. We are deeply sorry for the mistake. We are working on ways to present content you can see.

Breath of Fresh Air
I though the new video portal was very informative and gave alot of good information. I spent about two hours on the site looking around. This is definitely a breath of fresh air from other streaming video sites.
General
it is very interesting
I disagree
thanks for article.
Content not avaialble to Canadians
So let me see...On my television I can see three different PBS affiliate stations, I can support and make donations during their drives. But I can't view the content online.
Not available to Canadians
I never write comments on website articles but I could just not let this one go.
I have to state my disappointment and FRUSTRATION at not being able to watch any of the programs online due to the fact that I am in Canada!!!
So what does it mean that you can't show it due to rights issues? This doesn't mean anything to me and I feel like you guys are just making excuses. We should be able to watch the same programming as Americans, and if not then there should be a separate website for PBS Canada.
PBS has no problem taking Canadians donations for their channel and yet we don;t get the same options as everyone else.
As far as I'm concerned PBS should be embarrassed with themselves.
