Online Reactions to the 2008 Election
In the wake of the historic election this week, the web has been buzzing with reactions.
Across the nation, people uploaded photos and videos capturing their communities' reactions to Obama's victory. One Flickr stream shows revelers in Washington, DC flooding U Street in celebration -- the very location of the 1968 riots. In Seattle, a man led a crowd in song and dance to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." Chants of "Yes We Can" could be heard in Harlem for hours.
Blogger Russell Heimlich made a collage of homepage announcements about the new president, while the Washington Informer, a Washington, D.C. area newspaper serving the African-American community, aggregated four African newspaper front pages to illustrate the world wide reaction.
The New York Times featured a slideshow of international reactions, as did other major news sites, and BBC News plotted out international readers' reactions on an interactive map.
Of course, not everyone was happy about Tuesday's results. Popular online personality Ze Frank extended a virtual olive branch to the almost 50 percent of the nation that voted for Senator John McCain by launching from52to48withlove, an online project to promote post-election unity (reflecting the popular vote tally when the site launched on November 5).
Visual responses to the election results are also coming in through Flickr. You can contribute your photos and images to a group called "A Message for Obama." Just days after the election, nearly 500 images have been shared.
And many who may not agree with Obama's politics recognized the importance of America electing its first black president, a sentiment captured in this digital artwork that Web users forwarded to each other on November 5.
What would you contribute to a digital archive of reactions to election 2008?

Indeed, Obama's victory is a HUGE statement to people all over the world. I just hope that he can live up to the expectations. And to the people who still have doubts, you can doubt forever.
A new hope for all the world
Obama is a good choice not only for US but for all the world , especially when compared to previous US president.
His job is not easy, but he look to have enough will and the belief to solve major problems.
I was glued to the news websites that night
Surprisingly the most accurate counts and numbers were being reported by BBC on election from what I recall.
