Roundup: DNC Viewer Feedback Lights Up Twitter

Ok, it's the end of the week. Have you had enough of the Democratic National Convention yet?
Thanks to some new technologies, you were able to find out plenty about PBS's gavel-to-gavel coverage without turning on your TV.
Twitter, that crazy Web site that is always asking "What are you doing?" was ablaze with people talking about the convention. In fact, I hardly turned on the TV, because I had more than enough information coming straight at me on my cell phone and computer screen.

On Twitter, @Amber_ said this about PBS television coverage of the DNC, "I don't have cable. I appreciate PBS/OPB's coverage of the convent. They cover all the speakers, not just keynotes. Kudos!" While many of the 75 or so Twitter conversations about the convention and PBS coverage were positive, @DPopTart missed her regularly scheduled programming, "Oh yeah, wanted to complain that PBS ran Dem Convention rather than Antiques Roadshow & History Detectives. Like other coverage wasn't enough."

@moerex was mostly positive but wished there were some differing talent in front of the camera, "So far the best coverage of the Dem convention is on PBS (disregarding the fact that they've got David Brooks on as a commentator--ugh)."

Others discussed how TV alone isn't sufficient these days.

@ccadelago thought that "TV news cannot keep up with the Web thus far when it comes to covering the convention. PBS has been boring, networks (nope), cable (no)."
I agree with @ccadelago--following the convention news and entertainment was pretty enjoyable on the Web.

With cool tools like this Flickr Map mashup of DNC photos and the backstory and information provided by our own Laura Hertzfeld who guest-blogged here earlier this week, it's easy to see how coverage is a lot more informative when it's not just on TV.

What do you think of the DNC convention coverage this week? Did you follow it online, on TV or via that old throwback medium, the newspaper? What would you change about coverage? What would you like to see us do differently at the RNC in Minneapolis next week? We've already gotten some feedback:
