Your Ideas, Please

Your Ideas (So Far)

Since launching PBS Engage a few months ago, we've been reaching out to, well. . .engage you in the task of helping us chart our digital future. As we integrate new forms of media into the work of PBS programs and stations, we want to make sure we're responding to what you want.

One popular feature of our Web site has been "Your Ideas." That would be the cloud-festooned feedback collector where we ask you to tell us how you'd like to interact with PBS. Early returns are coming in.

The top three ways you'd like to participate in PBS efforts, according to the "Your Ideas" votes:

  • Help shape PBS programming
  • Suggest a show
  • Rate programs and shows

And the three you're least interested in?

  • Post my photos
  • Organized events
  • Make my own newsletter

Beg to differ? Care to share your own ideas? Jump in, and soon. We have several features under development, and we want to make sure we've heard all of your ideas.

Feel free to use the Your Ideas tool--or just leave a comment below.

I have enjoyed Masterpiece

I have enjoyed Masterpiece Theater's Jane Austin series and now Cranford. I really wish that you would bring back the original Six Wives of Henry VII and Elizabeth R. Glenda Jackson's Elizabeth has never been equaled. I also miss the commentary before and after each "chapter". Unfortunately, most of the other PBS programming is not up to par. There is better commentary and nature programming now available on cable stations. Also, the interminable American Masterpiece programming is total overkill. In fact, aside from the occasional movie, Masterpiece Theater is the only PBS program I watch on a regular basis. I once tuned in to PBS every evening, and usually never changed the channel. Sorry, but there is little left that interests me.

Austin City Limits

I think everybody enjoys music. Why is there very few showings of Austin City Limits on PBS now? Maybe I haven't been paying much attention because I have not watched a lot of TV lately. I also wonder about local music shows. I've seen one that was shot in the Charlotte, NC region. I'd love more musical history programs. Django Rheinhardt would be a pick along with Slim Gaillard. What do y'all think? Thanks for reading this.

Definitely one of my

Definitely one of my favorite broadcasts on PBS as well.

I'd love to see "I,

I'd love to see "I, Claudius" re-broadcast -- or better yet, be available on demand. When I was watching John Adams on HBO I thought, "this is the kind of thing that should be on PBS."

I wish I could go to a PBS area of my cable on demand service and just pull up a cornucopia of stuff, from dramas to quirky arts and culture shows....and shorter-stuff, too...I don't always have an hour.

Bring back "Upstairs, Downstairs" - PLEASE!!!

When you originally showed the series, "Upstairs, Downstairs", I was totally entranced and NEVER, EVER missed an episode. Is there any chance you can bring the excellent series back to PBS? I will be waiting with bated breath for your response. :)

Sincerely,

Sue Dondelewski

Foodie Program

I have been a foodie for nearly forty years and watching food or cooking shows since the infancy of Julia Child's career. Now we have the Food Network. In all those years have never seen a program that shows what the chefs eat.

I would love to be involved in a program that goes to the homes of various executive chefs or restaurantuers homes and see what the do in their own kitchens wit their families.

Great so far

I second the "Upstairs, Downstairs" request. I'd love to see this excellent series back on PBS.

Also as this is a feedback type of board, I'd like to compliment on the design and functionality - I'm a new user, but I like everything so far.

Keep Up the good work.

Sincerely,
