PBS Innovation Showcase

Since its inception, the series Independent Lens has been presenting PBS viewers with a selection of new documentaries and short films from some of the world's most talented - and oftentimes unsung - artists. Each episode presents filmmakers and media producers who challenge the status quo of movie-making and rewrite the conventions of commercial programming. In 2007, Independent Lens, launched its first ever Web-only film festival. Prospective filmmakers submitted videos online, then the online audience watched, reviewed, and rated each film.
