Tavis
Tavis Smiley uses the micro-blogging service Twitter as a fast and on-going way to communicate with viewers. The Tavis Smiley Twitter feed includes announcements about upcoming shows, pre-air video clips, thought-provoking quotes from guests, behind the scenes tidbits, and discussion with Twitter followers. Trivia questions are also posed on the feed as a fun, interactive way to engage with viewers and let them know about upcoming guests.
Viewers are also encouraged to submit questions via Twitter for Tavis to answer in his weekly video blog.
Both Twitter and the video blog will be used extensively in Tavis Smiley's upcoming coverage from the Democratic and Republican conventions.
