South Florida's WPBT recently launched uVu (pronounced "you view"), an online video site offering the community thousands of videos of community events, popular television programs, and public meetings as well as Web-exclusive series and short clips. In addition to making public meetings, programs, and events more accessible to WPBT's community, uVu has helped deepen civic engagement, encouraging viewers to comment on segments and share them with friends. Community members can also post their own video-recorded criticisms, questions, concerns, and even their own programs in uVu.

This is just a thoght, but I've been thinking that this kind of services could be provided by well known and proven services like youtube.
I don't want to take a competitional stand on uVu, but was just thinking that why have hundreds of services for each local comunity, when you can have all in one place.
I see your point R.C., but there is something I always rejected about our nation wide business (radio, tv, movies), and is they always tend and try to become monopolic. If they succed we all pay the price.
In the other hand, I understand that concentration of business is required, otherwise the profit is not enogh to sustain the business. Libros Gratis
In this case, there is a technology knowledge issue, but that could make the business behave monopolicly too.
Having said that, I'd rather see small local organizations working independently, but centralized by one technology center where core technology issues are tackled.
