Masterpiece wins two Primetime Emmys
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences honored Masterpiece with two Emmys for the 60th Annual (2008) Primetime Emmy Awards.
Eileen Atkins won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role as Miss Deborah Jenkyns in Cranford. The acclaimed miniseries also won an Emmy in the Hairstyling for a Miniseries, Movie or Special category during the Creative Arts ceremony.
In total, MASTERPIECE received 10 of PBS' 33 Primetime Emmy nominations. The nominations included outstanding miniseries, writing, art direction, casting, costumes and hairstyling mentions for Cranford, and acting nods for Judi Dench and Eileen Atkins also in Cranford. Sense and Sensibility was recognized in outstanding cinematography and music composition categories.
Masterpiece's Cranford won an Emmy in the Hairstyling for a Miniseries, Movie or Special category during the Creative Arts ceremony held in Los Angeles in Saturday, September 13, 2008. The rest of the Emmys will be announced in a televised ceremony on Sunday, September 21, 2008.

Derek Jacobi (I, Claudius) stars as the grandfather in this new adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel, The Old Curiosity Shop. Adapted by Martyn Hesford (Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde), and also starring Toby Jones (Infamous, The Way We Live Now) as Daniel Quilp, and young Sophie Vavasseur (Northanger Abbey) as Nell Trent.
