Using real text from fugitive slave memoirs from the 1830s, “The North Star”, is a haunting, poetic recreation of a slave escaping from the south to New England.

About the Filmmaker

Rob Koier has taught college-level classes on editing and editing theory. He has written and Directed several documentaries and short narrative films, including “Clean” which received a Ben & Jerry’s CAT grant, “Love/Hate”, which won Honorable Mention at the 2003 Vermont International Film Festival and “Strength of the Storm”, which received grants from The Vermont Community Foundation, Bissell Foundation and The High Meadows Fund.
