“It’s interesting to imagine a future film project that I might work on that would involve people democratically. Seeing what people we’d never met—strangers, really—did with the footage threw a lot of new ideas into the mix.”
— Ian Cheney, co-producer KING CORN
on the Filmocracy prototype

Contest dates: March 7 - May 30, 2008
Winners announced June 23, 2008
Filmocracy: Mix it up. Make a Statement!

We provide the clips. You provide the point of view. Express yourself through the powerful medium of film.

The Independent Lens presentation of KING CORN provides the backdrop for the first inaugural Filmocracy mashup contest. KING CORN is a feature documentary about two friends, one acre of corn and the subsidized crop that drives our fast-food nation.

Enter to win the PBS Independent Lens Filmocracy contest. It’s easy. Make a short film, three minutes or less, using KING CORN video clips and footage from Getty Images. You can even upload your own clips and mix it all up with the Eyespot tool. Win great prizes, share your short films and declare your independence!
