I am on a full-out squash kick lately. After last week’s roasted squash crème brûlée, I hope you’ll indulge me in one more squash recipe. This one brings together the sweetness of delicata squash and the festive flavour of fresh sage in a tender buttery biscuit. The squash gives a lovely golden hue to these biscuits which are flecked with tiny pieces of chopped sage.

I put a lot of love into this week’s video because Thanksgiving is such a special time of year. A time to savour delicious food with our loved ones. And a time to celebrate and give thanks for what the earth gives us. So consider this video my way of wishing you a very joyful and festive season, from my table, to yours. And in case you’re wondering how I staged such a festive dinner in the video, I’ll fill you in on the secret. There’s something about starting the day with a steaming bowl of porridge that just feels right at this time of year. But any self-respecting food blogger has to face the facts. Come October, you should fulfill your blogging destiny and do at least one pumpkin recipe. And really I’m just joking because I actually do love pumpkin spice everything. So riding on the enthusiasm of the last video which involved salted bourbon caramel sauce, I thought I’d continue in the same vein, with an autumn favorite of mine: salted pumpkin caramels.

This red cabbage slaw is deceivingly simple but packs a real flavor punch. It was my mom’s staple cabbage slaw and I’ve been eating it for as long as I can remember. Since my mom is no longer with us, I make this salad often and think of her whenever I do.
