The Victory Garden

The Victory Garden is television's longest running gardening show. Hosted by international garden design sensation Jamie Durie and featuring Chef Michel Nischan's James Beard award-winning "Homegrown" cooking segments, The Victory Garden equips viewers with the confidence and inspiration to roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty, and live outdoors.

With so many Americans aspiring to care for the environment and create their own outdoor living spaces, The Victory Garden's unique fusion of garden design, earth-to-table cooking, and eco-conscious how-to tips is of greater interest today than ever before in its more than 30-year history. The newest season of The Victory Garden takes viewers on a coast-to-coast journey—from a Napa Valley garden of fruits, vegetables, and herbs modeled after the 16th-century Jardins du Villandry in France, to a Massachusetts farm that provides pristine produce to some of the finest restaurants in Boston.

Each episode of The Victory Garden is hosted by Durie, and includes segments with Chef Nischan and beloved gardening correspondentPaul Epsom with six themes anchoring the new season—old, new, light, dark, soft, and edible. Season highlights include a community planting of traditional Victory Gardens at San Francisco City Hall where Durie will speak with San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and renowned chef Alice Waters about the importance of connecting the planet to the plate. Viewers will also see how a moss garden makes for the ultimate shade groundcover, explore how new plants can best be incorporated into already thriving gardens, and experience the best of herb gardening.

In his award-winning "Homegrown" segments, Chef Nischan continues to take viewers from the garden to the table and offers techniques and suggestions on how to make the most of their garden space and harvest. This season finds Chef Nischan visiting with several of New England's finest farmers and chefs. From harvesting heirloom vegetables and cooking with potatoes so fresh the skin is removable by hand, to shopping for produce at an urban farmer's market and whipping up summer vegetable salads and soups with award-winning chef Barbara Lynch, each segment demonstrates how best to incorporate the freshest foods into your personal menu.

Rounding out each new episode is an eco-tip from Durie, which will help viewers take home new, more earth-friendly techniques for their gardens.
