The PBS Foundation solicits funding for PBS at the national level by seeking extraordinary grants and gifts. The PBS Foundation is also the national mechanism for receiving gifts of all sizes to PBS. Working cooperatively and collaboratively with member stations, the PBS Foundation's fundraising efforts benefit and enhance the system as a whole by providing an important source of revenue.
The PBS Foundation has determined – in accordance with guidance from PBS senior staff and Board as well as its own Board of Directors – the following primary areas for Foundation fundraising:
