My Beliefs

My most powerful moment of belief was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator There are two such moments: 1. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. 2. When I surrendered to His call to becme a minister and proclaim the Word of God.
My greatest moment of doubt was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator My greatest and only doubt was (and is) when I doubt my worthiness to be His called-servant.
My spiritual life means... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator My spiritual life means evereything to me. I don't always walk spiritually; I don't always talk spiritually. But the Spiritual aspect of my life, daily united with Christ, means everything to me. He is my constant Companion on Whom I depend daily so as to walk with Him.

My Faith History

As a child I believed ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I had no spiritual belief as a child. I was raisesd as an obedient (most of the time)child of two loving and caring parents in a home of love.
My spiritual journey has been ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator steady (with the Lord's help,not mine!)and fruitful as a minister of the Gospel.
I was raised as ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator a much loved and cared for child, but with no religlous training.
Are your beliefs or practices different from your parents? If so, how and why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I had the indescribable joy of seeing both of my parents accept Christ as their personal Savior abot 2 years after I had accepted Christ.
If you have children, did becoming a parent change your relationship to faith? If so, how? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator My wife,wonderful Christian that she was, bore me no children. We had 50 wonderful years together, ministering wherever the Lord called me to serve as pastor and/or Missions Director.

How I Practice My Faith

Where and when do you practice your faith? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Daily at First Baptist Church, Woodstock, VA. At the age of 84 i am considered retired, but I conduct prayer meetings on Wednesday evenings and do a Bible study on Sunday evenings.
Does your family practice more than one religion or faith? If so, how do you blend the traditions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator All my family are Baptists, for which I am most grateful (that they are Christians).
How easy or difficult is it to live your faith? Why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I live my life of faith daily because I do not resist the leadereship of Christ, my Lord.
In my house, the thing that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator The presence of the Bible, God's Word, in every room, and times of prayer throughout the day.
The song/book/film that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator The song, "Amazing Grace", has always inspired me. And of course, the BIBLE, God's Word is the book that represents my faith.

Religion & the Public Square

What should be the role of religion in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator If religion, Christianity, has the lead in the lives of our politicians I do not worry about the role of religion in politics!
Should courses about religion be taught in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator They should be taught as options. And every child should understand this. Many children have excellent teaching about Christ at church and in the home. But for those who don't, it would be a blessing.
Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I believe I answered this in the previous question.
Is interfaith dialogue important? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Interfaith dialogue is always important because it gives those in the dialogue opportunity to share, consider, and understand the other person's beliefs.
Do you feel comfortable discussing your faith with others? Why/why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator It is always a joy,privilege and honor to discuss my faith with others.
Do you feel that you have a duty, because of your faith, to put your beliefs into action? What are some of those actions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I always feel the need to witness --speak of my faith to others. It is also my desire to express Christin love to all who need it as I have the opportunity to do so.
Are religious beliefs compromised by engaging in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Sad to say, for many, yes. If I were deeply into the political field of serving, I would still not compromise my beliefs.
Has 9/11 had any impact on your thoughts about religion? Are you more/less interested in learning about other religions? Do you feel more/less comfortable expressing your religious beliefs? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator In my seminary days I studied Comparative Religion, along with other studies to help me understand other beliefs. 9/11 increased my sorrow and sadness for other religions.
