My Beliefs

I believe ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator that Deity manifests through life and light and love; that although there are people who think of themselves and their actions as "Evil" that it is a construct of balance, as the concept of "good" is; I do not accept the concept of 'Original Sin'; I believe humor is a holy act, when done with compassion and respect; I believe that there are sacred plants; I believe in Faith and Spirituality, and that it does not belong exclusively to one creed or religious faction, and I believe I'll have a nice cuppa tea now . . .
My most powerful moment of belief was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator The vision I had when barely out of infancy, when I had double lung pneumonia, was not expected to survive the night, and met a figure my toddler mind identified as Jesus, and who told me what I was on Earth for - naturally, I forgot it as soon as I became coherent again . . .

I was raised as ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator someone to respect the lessons of Jesus the Christ, and to look for his light in others. To believe that all humans are brothers and sisters, that sibling rivalry can be a real pain in the butt.
Are your beliefs or practices different from your parents? If so, how and why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Only in the sense that I have codified my Faith in ways that they did not.
If you have children, did becoming a parent change your relationship to faith? If so, how? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator No - it strengthened that faith.

How I Practice My Faith

Does your family practice more than one religion or faith? Religion & the Public Square

What should be the role of religion in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator To counsel and advise through compassion, tolerance and care-giving, not to govern solely.
Should courses about religion be taught in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Comparative religion, most certainly, as part of a rigorous curriculum to teach critical thinking skills; not to proselytize. 1 person liked this
Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Again, as works of comparative theology - especially those works, all the works of the Sons of Abraham - there should also be studies of the Bagdavita, the Tao, and other paths of faith. 1 person liked this

Do you feel comfortable discussing your faith with others? Why/why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Yes, although, because we live in the traditional "Bible Belt", many fundamentalists are uncomfortable when I use direct language ("I am a Witch") , as compared to a more genteel approach (I believe in the sacredness of Nature) to discuss my faith in specifics. 1 person liked this
Do you feel that you have a duty, because of your faith, to put your beliefs into action? What are some of those actions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I think any one of faith must live their faith by actions and not just words, whether it's clearing our land, cleaning our house, planting our crops, or caring for those in hardship and need. 1 person liked this
