I wish I could be more mature and sophisticated about this, but to me God is a great loving Father who lets me climb inot his lap. Maybe that is becasue myfather wasn't around when I was little. but it is an image that works well for me.

On a cruise through French Polynesia. I went up to the bridge for "star gazing." When everyone else had gotten tired of the technical terms and I was left alone, I looked at that big night sky with all its stars, and they became the face of God for me. I looked at Him. He looked at me and we were happy.

Some years ago, I had chemotherapy and had a really hard time of it. I couldn't walk for awhile and I just didn't know if I would ever get back to a normal life. There were times I wished I would die.
My spiritual life means...

everything to me. It is my "Divine Millieu", the sea I swim around in. A great part of my life is taken up with activities and thoughts about my faith and how it sustains me.
The biggest misconception about my faith/belief system is ...

that we Catholics are very rigid and dogmatic. Some are, the ones who haven't had much formation, but most of the Catholics I know that had some training past elementary school are very flexible, while remaining adherent. They just aren't sheep and think things through for themselves.

a Roman Catholic in the '50s. All I knew until I was at least havlf way thorugh high school was the Baltimore Catechism. After Vatican II, i was able to receive a new vision of my faith and was fortunate enough to meet people who nurtured me in my learning and experience.
Are your beliefs or practices different from your parents? If so, how and why?

My father was a non-observant Jew and my mother Irish Catholic. She knew approximately nothing about her faith, didn't go to Catholic school, I suspect didn't have more than the basic training to get her to first communion and confirmation, if that. She also did not get the changes that swept the Church after Vatican II. However, the priest who baptized me told her to raise me a good Catholic. She took that to heart and saw to it that I went to Sunday school and had released time classes when I went to Brooklyn Friends School. The scope of a fully Christian life of discipleship was just beyond her.
If you have children, did becoming a parent change your relationship to faith? If so, how?

I don't have any children. But I do have very strong ideas about how children should be raised in relation to their faith.

Where and when do you practice your faith?

My faith is something I practice at all times. Not that I get it right all the time or even mujch of the time, but I try. As a CAtholic, I attend Mass on 'sunday adn holydays of obligation. I have a spiritual director, I have gone on retreats and I take an interest in what is written about faith. i have also been a sponsor for someone completing initiation as a Catholic, and welcomer for a catechumen.
Does your family practice more than one religion or faith? If so, how do you blend the traditions?

I have no family geographically nearby, so I practice without outside input.
How easy or difficult is it to live your faith? Why?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
It is only difficult in that I never get it right enough. I do not feel in anyway the victim of prejudice, although I know it is there. I handle that by being knowledgeable about my faith so I can answer any questions that may arise at any time.

"Be not afraid, I go before you always, come follow me and i will give you rest." A song we sing at Mass form time to time, and another one, "On Eagles' Wings"--"he will bear me up on eagles' wing, bear me on the breath of dawn make me to shine like the sun and hold me in the palm of his hand.'
