How Do You Imagine God?
God in America and USA WEEKEND Magazine are partnering to explore Americans' images of God.

How do you imagine God? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I do not imagine Him, because He is real! He is patient, loving, and has a great sense of humor. He hates sins, but loves the sinner. He is willing for all to be saved- and, He cries eternally for those who are not. He has such a wonderful imagination; He's created things I could have NEVER thought up! He is not far away and angry; He is closer than you think, and slow to anger.

My Beliefs

I believe ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator That in the beginning, God created the world. He made a tree where the fruit could give someone knowledge of good and evil like Him. His first two humans ate of it, and since sin is passed down from human to human, all humans are sinners. God sent Himself down in the form of a human to save the word of their sins, if they just put down their pride and trust in Him. And that "Him" I speak of is Jesus! I believe the Bible is free of mistakes, and is not just a fairy tale, but a historically true book. I believe that Jesus truly is God in human form, and that He is now sitting in heaven at the right hand of the Father.
My most powerful moment of belief was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator When a prophecy God gave me in a dream came true, down to the last detail; a detail that was completely unforeseen, and would have been impossible to just guess and get correct.
My greatest moment of doubt was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator When I wondered why God created people who He knew would go to hell in the end.
My spiritual life means... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator (I don't understand the question!)
The biggest misconception about my faith/belief system is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator That the bible is just a book of fairy-tales or mythology. It's actually a historical document!
My spiritual role model is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Jesus!
The tenet/practice/teaching I appreciate most about my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator That we can be sure of our eternal life through Jesus.

My Faith History

As a child I believed ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Let's just say it was a little different than what I believe now, but it was still Christianity.
My spiritual journey has been ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator A long and winding road graciously lit with candles by YHWH. I'd almost gone off the path a few times as a child, but, somehow, God lead me the right way in the end.
I was raised as ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator A non-denominational Christian who went to a Lutheran church and school.
Are your beliefs or practices different from your parents? If so, how and why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator My parents believe the same things as me, basically... Except my dad believes in ghosts. I believe ghosts are just demons who have access to private information, pretending to be our loved ones.
If you have children, did becoming a parent change your relationship to faith? If so, how? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I've not got children..

How I Practice My Faith

Where and when do you practice your faith? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator 24/7... Faith can't just be picked up and put down when it's convenient, in my opinion...
Does your family practice more than one religion or faith? If so, how do you blend the traditions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator No, they're all Christian. But my cousin and best friend are both a mix of Universalist and Hindu, and my uncle believes we're an alien experiment. We just don't really talk about it around each other... My uncle argues with us about Christianity ALL the time, though...
How easy or difficult is it to live your faith? Why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator It's VERY difficult! The world hates us, and thinks we all believe in some fairy tale, and hate everyone who's different than us.
In my house, the thing that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator All the crosses on the walls!
The song/book/film that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Minus the Hindu references, "Strange Phenomena" by Kate Bush...

Religion & the Public Square

What should be the role of religion in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator It depends...
Should courses about religion be taught in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I think yes, because it feels like the government is trying to brainwash public school kids into making God a taboo subject...
Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator The Bible and the Torah are historical documents. So, they should be taught in schools, yes.
Is interfaith dialogue important? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator (Not sure I understand the question...)
Do you feel comfortable discussing your faith with others? Why/why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Definitely! I'm a Christian Apologetic, so I'm not afraid to be asked the hard questions.
Do you feel that you have a duty, because of your faith, to put your beliefs into action? What are some of those actions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Sometimes... Like, taking care of others, and sacrificing my own comfort, luxuries, success, or life to do so.
Are religious beliefs compromised by engaging in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Sometimes they are, yes...
Has 9/11 had any impact on your thoughts about religion? Are you more/less interested in learning about other religions? Do you feel more/less comfortable expressing your religious beliefs? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator It's made me a bit afraid of Islam, I must admit... I'm a little more interested in learning about other religions, just so that I know why these people do the things they do (Like 9/11)... I feel a little less comfortable expressing my beliefs (like right now), because I'm afraid someone will kill me for them.
