How Do You Imagine God?
God in America and USA WEEKEND Magazine are partnering to explore Americans' images of God.

How do you imagine God? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I don't "imagine" God. I seek God in daily life. I listen for God's voice as I pray, as I attend worship, and as I study scripture. Nature declares God's word as much as the Bible does. (Psalm 19)

My Beliefs

My spiritual role model is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I count several people as my spiritual role models, especially St. Francis of Assisi, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and John Wesley.

How I Practice My Faith

How easy or difficult is it to live your faith? Why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator It is not easy to be a disciple of someone who was willing to sacrifice his own life for the welfare of others. Jesus calls me to live a counter-cultural lifestyle; and that is often difficult. It is not boring, however; and there is often great joy along the way.
In my house, the thing that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator my bookshelves.

Religion & the Public Square

Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I am not comfortable calling these texts "works of literature". To call them "literature" is a misclassification. They are sacred texts and foundational documents for various faith communities. In a literature class, it may be important to study such texts to give background information for other literature. For example as a student reads Dr. King's famous speeches, it would be important to understand that he frequently refers to the Bible. Familiarity with the Bible is also important for understanding works like "The Handmaid's Tale", "Beowolf", and "The Crucible." To approach the Bible simply as another piece of literature is to diminish it's significance.
