How Do You Imagine God?
God in America and USA WEEKEND Magazine are partnering to explore Americans' images of God.

How do you imagine God? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator In my experience the desire to believe in a god is an attempt to deal with the fear of death and the false notion that one is somehow out of control. Once one comes to terms with his or her own death and comes to understand the nature of reality the desire to believe in imaginary friends wanes and vanishes.

My Beliefs

I believe ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I believe that we each create our own reality.
My most powerful moment of belief was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator My most powerful moment of belief occurred upon the knowing that there is no god.

The biggest misconception about my faith/belief system is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator The biggest misconception others have concerning my belief system is that they consider me to be an atheist or agnostic. In truth I am post-theological. I do not believe there is a god and I do not believe there is no god. I simply do not see the need for the discussion.

The tenet/practice/teaching I appreciate most about my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I have no need to follow the beliefs of others and do not. When I occasionally see someone whose quest I appreciate I do not attempt to model myself after that person or to be as they are, but rather I then will attempt to seek what they seek.

My Faith History

As a child I believed ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator As a child I believed in the Christian mythology as I was told to believe by me relatives. In the America of the 1950s a child had little choice.
My spiritual journey has been ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Wonderfully empowering moving from the guilt and shame of Christianity to a life untethered by such nonsensical thinking.

If you have children, did becoming a parent change your relationship to faith? If so, how? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator N/A

Religion & the Public Square

What should be the role of religion in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Religion should be completely separated from politics. However, this is impossible to achieve. The stupidity of religious belief permeates the thoughts of its practitioners and bleeds through into every facet of their lives.
