My practices are not, but we have subtle differences in beliefs. They have more emphasis on law, where I have more emphasis on gospel.

Yes. It helps show the flaws of your religion or other's religion, and if it doesn't cause a change in your faith then it will make your faith stronger. Interfaith dialogue is a search for truth.

9/11 has shown me that if you judge a religion by what you see on tv, then you are not seeing the true side of that religion.
